For those attempting to get a feel for Morocco’s Sahara desert in a limited amount of time, a desert tour to Zagora is the perfect choice. You’ll have the opportunity to experience the beauty of the Atlas Mountains, the UNESCO Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, the Draa valley’s lush vegetation, and Zagora’s serene desert when you hop on a camel to reach your Berber campsite for a memorable overnight stay in a nomad tent.
Pick up from your hotel or airport in Marrakech is provided. We start the tour crossing the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains with ever-changing scenery on the way to Ouarzazate. We stop at Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site before arriving in Ouarzazate for lunch. After lunch in Ouarzazate, we travel through the verdant Draa Valley oasis filled with palm trees and earth-built villages. Zagora is our next stop, where you will dine on camelback before sitting for the sunset. As night falls, you will enjoy dinner in the middle of the Sahara Desert before you spend the night in the nomad tent.
Before having breakfast, relish and enjoy the sunrise. After we return to Zagora, where we will have tea, we will travel back to Marrakech through the palm groves of the Draa Valley, where we will stop to see the old Kasbah and pottery factory in the village of Tamgerout. Afterwards, we will cross the Nizi N'Tinffift to reach Ouarzazate for lunch before returning to Marrakech via the Tizi N'Tichka pass. We will arrive in Marrakech late in the afternoon.
