A 3-day journey from Fez to Merzouga, a gateway to the Sahara Desert. On this journey, you can travel through the picturesque Atlas Mountains, visit ancient Kasbahs and Berber villages, sip traditional mint tea, ride a camel across the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, and spend the night in a desert nomad camp. Marrakech is the capital of Morocco and a UNESCO world heritage site.
Welcome to Morocco, We will start our journey by leaving the city of Fez and start crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains, with a short break in Ifran, the town of the first ski resort in Morocco. We will be surrounded by amazing scenery and landscapes of the Mountains and plains. We may have the opportunity to see the species of native monkeys living in the cedar forest of Azrou. We will stop for lunch in Midelt, a town that celebrates the festival of apples every year at the beginning of October. From Midelt we will travel to Errachidia, named after Prince Moulay Rachid, before driving through Ziz Valley to the gate of the Sahara Desert Erfoud. We arrive to Merzouga where you will have some time to relax before you start the desert adventure on the back of camels. You will ride over the sands as the sun begins to set and as you reach the magnificent Erg Chebbi sand dunes, witness them turning a wonderful red hue. As night falls, listen to the Berber drum music and enjoy a Moroccan home-made food before sleeping in a private tent with private bathrooms and hot showers.
Your day begins with a beautiful sunrise before you have breakfast. Later, you'll meet your driver in Merzouga and head to Ziz Oasis where you will see the ancient irrigation system. After that, you will head to Todra Gorge where you will walk between the cliffs and the river. This gorge, mainly used for rock climbing and picnics, will conclude with a spectacular Gorge. After lunch, we will visit Dades Valley, a gorge formed by erosion over millions of years. Overnight with dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast, we will travel from Dades gorges to the Rose Valley, where only Moroccan Damascus roses are harvested. We will begin our journey to Kalaa Mgouna, where we will purchase rosewater, which has a wonderful aroma that lasts long after your trip is finished. You can also choose to visit Kasbah Ameridil near Skoura as an alternative. Upon arrival in Ouarzazate, the 'Hollywood of Africa,' you can see the famous movies that have been filmed here, such as The Mummy and Gladiator. The studios are where some of the most famous movies in history were filmed. After that, we will continue to cross the high Atlas Mountains, seeing beautiful Berber villages and panoramic views, arriving in Marrakech by six o'clock.
